Deposits and advance rent
Landlords commonly ask for a security deposit plus advance rent. The listing shows the deposit and lease terms when the advertiser provides them. Always get a receipt.
The lease
Read the lease for the term, renewal, who pays association dues and utilities, and the rules for getting your deposit back. Take dated photos of the unit when you move in.
